Montauk United
Who we are
MONTAUK UNITED is a non-partisan, apolitical citizen action group dedicated to the supposition that strength and power can be obtained for Montauk residents through uniting as one. Through effective, mass organization, the people of Montauk can possess a powerful weapon in addressing and conquering the serious problems and issues that are negatively affecting our community. MONTAUK UNITED can grant the citizens of Montauk a far reaching united forum that will provide the recognition, respect and response, from the political institutions, that have the means of correction within their mandate. MONTAUK UNITED will provide Montauk’s citizenry the means to speak and act as one, but have the power of many, in terms of governmental communication, support and awareness.
Objectives
- To support and assist the East Hampton Town Board in their greatly appreciated recent, and hoped for continuous, efforts in dealing with the specific social problems that are currently affecting the well being of the community. Problems such as public drunkenness, crime, outrageously bad behavior and generally intolerable mayhem that has been foisted on our community through greed, indifference and the contempt and abuse of the legal and moral values that are Montauk’s social foundation.
- To establish strong, effective and continuous communication links with Suffolk County and New York State agencies, boards, tax and licensing bureaus. To constantly keep these government bodies aware of Montauk’s situation, the perpetrators, the number of citizens negatively affected and to demand, action when and were necessary.
- To establish and maintain a body of relevant research through a systematic communications network with other communities throughout the nation who have experienced similar problems as those affecting Montauk.
- To routinely provide the membership with up to date information regarding Town Board activity in regard to awareness of current and future issues and their planned short and long term response to our needs.
Ask yourself, what I am willing to give to protect and defend our community, our Montauk? To accomplish any of the above, we first of all need members, at least 1,000 Montauk citizens. We also need money to make it happen. Would you spend an average of 14 cents a day ($50 per year ) to accomplish the above goals? Please send you membership information and check to Montauk United, Box 2209, Montauk New York 11954. Include your address, phone and email address.
If you can’t send the money, sign up anyway. We need the money but we need you more. Much more. Be a part of this. Join and urge your friends and neighbors to do the same. Let us face these problems together as one united positive force for our community, our Montauk. Only through joining together can we have the will, strength and power to prevail.
